These two pieces are similar to the black and white ones but much smaller. These are made with some colored paper and are about 6x7.

Box & Tape Drawing
This is also a college drawing that I did. We were required to draw boxes so that they were on different planes and then cover them with tape strips. We then had to pull away the tape strips and shade based on having multiple light sources coming from different directions. It was an interesting project that I thought I would share. This was on 18x24 paper.

Colored Pencil
I found this fish in a magazine and decided to draw it using colored pencils for my drawing class. We were required to use different values using color by dividing the picture into sections. I decided to use the diagonal lines to make the water appear to have rays of light. After I finshed, I cut the paper to give it more of a feel of a rounded fish bowl!
Clay Project
This is a paper weight that I made out of a slab of red clay during my student teaching at Ashland High School. Each student was required to make a "slab" project out of clay and carve out an image or a design. I decided to make an abstract design and used two different colors to glaze with when I finished. The glaze left the clay looking very glossy which I loved! I then glued a piece of felt to the bottom, making a great paper weight! Let me know what you think! The angle of the photo makes it look a little bit distorted, but the actual size is 2.25x4.5

Portfolio Pieces - Graphic Design
Here are some graphic design pieces from my portfolio that I wanted to share... They aren't high quality since they are big files (and I added them here as Jpegs) but you can get the gist of my style. The top 3 pieces are typography pieces and the bottom a poster for Fitchburg State College's 'Visions' exhibition. More to come later!

In light of my recent career change, I have decided to create a blog to channel my artwork as a creative outlet. Over the next few weeks, I will be completing a number of projects and hope to post pictures of them on here.
After graduating from Fitchburg State College with a Communications Media degree (specifically concentrated in Graphic Design), I decided that my true passion lies not in the graphic arts but in fine arts and teaching. Coming from a family of teachers, my career change was not a surprise to many. I am currently working towards my teaching license and hope to have my own classroom in the Fall of 2010. As for now, I am working as a Nanny and am teaching an after school art program to 6-8 graders at Ashland Middle School and absolutely love it.
I hope that you enjoy my work as I will be posting both Graphic Design and other pieces over the next few weeks!
